Missions Fair This Sunday!

Dear St. Paul's Congregation,

I have a special request. Please make every effort to attend worship this Sunday, February 5, and the Missions Fair that will take place between services. Our Missions Team has been working for months.

  • New bulletin boards have been placed in the welcome center, by the elevator to the sanctuary, and on the lower level by the Powerplant.
  • Speakers from as far away as the Philippines will be with us on Sunday.

This Sunday: Micah, Annual Meeting, Sunday School, and more!

Dear St. Paul's Congregation,

This coming Sunday, January 29, our youth director and seminary graduate, Keith Kozlowski, will be preaching from the book of Micah. There are some famous verses in Micah 6 about justice, mercy and humility. You have heard these verse often, but what about the context of their message. I think you will enjoy hearing from Keith on Sunday.

Between services, don't forget about the excellent Sunday School program we have at St. Paul's. Added to that, Adult Education is available.

January 29: Potluck, 12:00 noon, Annual Meeting, 1:00 p.m.

Dear St. Paul's Congregation,

Don't forget the Annual Meeting on Sunday is preceeded by a potluck dinner, from 12:00 to 1:00. Please bring enough food to feed 8-10 people.

Change in Laurie Wilmes Memorial Plans

Dear St. Paul's Congregation,

Please see Laurie Wilmes' obituary below. Notice that rather than going to the cemetery after her 10:00 a.m.

This Sunday at St. Paul's: January 22

Dear St. Paul's Congregation,

Celebration and Comfort. Those are two words that describe this coming Sunday at St. Paul's.

  • Celebrate. We will celebrate between services with Chuck and Phyllis Caesar, who are adopting two beautiful young women, Chastity and Megan. From 9:30 to 9:50, we will have refreshments, cake, cookies, coffee and drinks. Around 9:50, we will start our program, which includes Chuck's testimony about how God allowed them to adopt these two beautiful girls, and also a special message from our Women's Fellowship.

Memorial Service Plans for Laurie Wilmes

Dear St. Paul's Congregation,

A Memorial Service for Laurie Wilmes will be held on Saturday, January 28, at 10:00 am. (Please note: that is the last Saturday in January). After the service, there will be a processional to Calvary Cemetery, where her cremains will be buried. We will then return to the church for a luncheon, to be served around 12:00 noon.

Laurie was greatly loved by our congregation. Please rejoice that her wishes were fulfilled, in that she did not have to linger after being diagnosed with cancer.

Laurie Wilmes

Dear St. Paul's Congregation,

Our dear sister, Laurie Wlimes, passes away today suddenly at home. She had just celebrated her 94th birthday yesterday.

You may remember Laurie as one of the women who sold grocery fund raiser cards each Sunday, and who would greet everyone with such a joyous smile.

Funeral arrangements are pending at this point.

Grace, mercy and peace to you,

Mark Friz

This Sunday at St. Paul's, January 15, 2011

Dear St. Paul's Family,

Surprise! We're continuing our journey through the Minor Prophets, The Maker's Dozen. Before this Sunday, January 15, please read the book of Amos. Notice that the first chapters start with God's condemnation of the nations surrounding Israel and Judah, but that God spends most of his time condemning the actions of his own people. Here's a clue.

Leone Dierberg With Jesus

Dear St. Paul's Congregation,

Our dear sister, Leone Dierberg, passed away this morning at St. Luke's Hospital. Even though she was 101 years old, this was quite a shock, as she had been well during the holidays and even participated in the communion service at Friendship Village led by the pastors. The last words on her breath were, "Praise the Lord."

Funeral services will be held here at St. Paul's this Saturday, January 14, with the following schedule.
