Jane Friz at Home with Jesus

Dear St. Paul’s Congregation,

My mother died this morning. I’m including the obituary below so that you can be aware of the arrangements for her Christian burial and know how to pray for our family.

Blessings and love to all of you,

Pastor Mark Friz

Daylight Savings Ends this Sunday

Dear St. Paul's Family,

This has been quite a week!

We had 40 people for our prayer meeting on Monday night. There were three rows of people in concentric circles. The Holy Spirit was present. We prayed for so many things. There were many tears, and much joy, as we shared in community with God and with one another.

Cindy Kelly's Illness Prompts Prayer and Fasting at St. Paul's

ALERT: Special Prayer Meeting Scheduled for Monday, October 26, 7:00!

Dear St. Paul's Congregation.

For the last several years, many of us have been praying for Cindy Kelly, one of our dear members who has stuggled with many different manifestations of cancer. On Wednesday, October 21, Cindy got news that her brain cancer, despite what was thought to be an effective treatment, has returned. Heidi Aslin summarized the situation in an e-mail to Cindy's friends this week:

Dorothy Soyster Funeral

Today I received news from Bobbie Soyster that her mother-in-law, and one of our dear members, Dorothy Soyster, had died.

Visitation will be held at St. Paul's on Friday, October 23, from 9 to 11:00 a.m. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00, with burial at St. Paul's Cemetery and a luncheon to follow.

Our sincere sympathy to the Soyster and Mason families on the loss of their dear mother and grandmother.

Grace to all,

Pastor Mark Friz

Sunday, Oct. 18: "Outward" Celebration at 9:45 a.m.

Dear St. Paul's Congregation,

Join us at 9:45 in the Multipurpose Room this Sunday as we travel to Grenoble, France; Rockford, IL: and New Orleans, LA. Our four mission teams will give testimony and show pictures of their experiences from summer and fall trips. You helped make this possible, so come and see and hear what God has been doing.

Jubilee Pastor Loses Son to Death

Dear St. Paul's Congregation,

On Tuesday, we had the funeral for Susan Musselman's father, John Q. Sanguinett. We extend our compassion to Susan and her entire family, including William, Emily and Chris.

On Monday, we also heard of the death of David Griffin, the 26 year old son of Larry and Donna Bradley. Larry is one of the pastors at Jubilee Community Church in St. Louis, our sister EFCA. Leroy Gill, the lead pastor at Jubilee, was our preacher here at St. Paul's on October 11.

Pastor Leroy Gill This Sunday at St. Paul's

Dear St. Paul's Congregation,

Pastor Mark Friz and Pastor Leroy Gill will participate in a pulpit exchange this Sunday, October 11, 2009, in both services.

Rev. Gill will be preaching from a series he has been sharing with his own congregation. The titles of the sermons are based on old game shows.

Ted Brown at Home; World Communion This Sunday

Dear St. Paul's Congregation,

Edward "Ted" Brown. Our dear brother, Ted Brown, went to his heavenly home this afternoon around 2:00 p.m. He was diagnosed with cancer only a month ago, and he went home very quickly. Willene is very thankful for your support and prayers.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 5, at St. Paul's, at 11:00 a.m., with a luncheon and private burial to follow. Visitation will be a Kriegshauser Funeral Home West on Sunday, October 4, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m.
