St. Paul's Announcements

Doug Teare Fund

Good news:

Thank you, St. Paul's church family for your generous gift of an EasyStand standing frame to Doug Teare for use in his home. The $5000 goal has been met and the standing frame will be delivered to his home tomorrow (Wednesday). Enough money will remain in the account to help with future repairs when they occur. What a wonderful Christmas present for Doug and his future mobility. You are a generous church family. God bless you.

There is no need for further funds, so the account is now closed.

Advent Worship on Sunday Focuses on Ancestry of the King

Dear St. Paul's Family,

Genealogies are sometimes considered to be some of the boring passages of the Bible, but this Sunday, we will take a look at the geneology of Jesus recorded in Matthew 1:1-17, and consider the theological and personal message which is hidden in this list of names. This Sunday, the Songsters will sing in both services. We will light the second candle of Advent, the candle of peace, in both services.

Arrive Early for Madrigal Dinners

Dear St. Paul's Family,

The time of celebration is almost here, as we dine and fellowship at the Madrigal Dinners this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. You will find our multi-purpose room turned into a charming 15th-16th century Manor House.  Beautifully decorated trees add a special ambiance to our graciously appointed dining area.

Pastoral Concerns

Dear St. Paul's Family,

Please be in prayer and spread the love of Christ over these situations:

  • Faye Eichholz's mother, Hazel Schaedlich, passed away on Tuesday, November 29, at the age of 97. Visitation will be Thursday from 3 p.m. through 8 p.m., and the funeral will be Friday at 10:00 a.m. Both will be from Buchholz Spanish Lake Mortuary on Redman Road.
  • Eulah Gertz fell and has a double fracture. She is at Mercy hospital.

Don't forget to pray for the outreach this weekend through the Madrigal Dinners.

Tomorrow we will have Advent Communion. I look forward to celebrating the Lord's Supper with you.

Sermon on Sunday to Address "Out of Control" Gift Giving

Dear St. Paul's Congregation,

It's Black Friday, and I pray most of you have survived. When Gayle checked her computer this morning, she said that there were shooting at several of the Black Friday events throughout the nation. It's all a lot different than the magi envisioned when they started this tradition of giving at the time of the birth of Jesus.

This Sunday, we begin a new sermon series, called "Christmas in Matthew." Normally, when we think of the story of Jesus' birth, we go to the book of Luke.

Help Needed in Decorating the Church for Christmas

This Saturday morning, November 26, the decorating of the church for Christmas will be completed.  Help would be appreciated in decorating the sanctuary, narthex, and other areas.  The fun starts at 9:00am, and should easily be finished by Noon.  If you can help, please call the church office, 314-993-0015, so we have an idea of how many people to expect.  This project is a great time for everyone working together for the upcoming season.

Advent Wreath Candlelighters Needed

Dear St. Paul's Congregation,

To reply to this email, please use my church email address: amfriz@stpaulsefree.org.

During Advent, we will be lighting a new candle on the advent wreath every week. If you or your family would like to lead in the Advent Wreath Ceremony either in the Traditional or Contemporary Service during Advent (which starts this Sunday, November 27), could you please let me know. Also, let me know of your availability.
