This Sunday: Continuing in the Wilderness

Dear St. Paul's Congregation,

On Ash Wednesday, we discovered that the areas of "wilderness" in the Holy Land are stark, barren, more like what we consider to be deserts. We will continue to focus on the wilderness this Sunday as we focus on Luke 4:1-13: Jesus' Temptation and 40 Days of Fasting in the Wilderness. The sermon title is Three Temptations in Three Locations.

This Sunday will also be Freedom Sunday. Ashley Pettus will speak to us in both services about how God has placed a burden on her heart to combat modern day slavery. In preparation for worship this Sunday, check out the following web site: www.notforsalecampaign.org. This will give you a prelude to the challenge she will issue on Sunday.

You might want to check our web site for some of the pictures Gayle and I showed on Sunday. Go to the following link for a taste of what the wilderness is like in the Holy Land.

Next Wednesday, Kelly and Vicky Schjenken will share their testimony from the Holy Land trip, as they speak about the various valleys which are so important to biblical understanding and history.

Let's all pray for a visitation of the Holy Spirit as we gather this Sunday. Pray specifically for victory over temptation, and Satan's schemes in our church, and in our lives.

Yours in Christ's love,

Pastor Mark Friz
