New Youth Coordinator Starts this Sunday

Dear St. Paul's Congregation,

I hope you will be able to join us this Sunday for worship! I will continue our lectionary sermon series with a message from Acts 16:16-34, called "Songs for the Night." Paul and Silas are beaten and put in prison, but yet, they are able to sing praises in the night. This story teaches us several lessons about how to put our trial to work for the benefit of God's Kingdom.

Bells and chorale will present special music at the 8:30 service. Nathan Drake leads the worship team at 11:00. In both services, we have a special Mission Moment by Kelly Graeler (for the Life Team).

We will introduce Keith Kozlowski as our Interim Youth Coordinator on Sunday. Keith will be working 20 hours per week during the next days in our middle school and senior high ministry, coordinating the ministries of our gifted youth volunteers. Keith has been involved at St. Paul's since his family began attending our church in the late 1990's. He has also served as a worship team intern, youth group leader, and the director of college and young adults ministries at St. Paul's. We look forward to Keith's contribution to this new ministry.

In other news:

  • both Pastor Stemler and Ralph Percival had pacemakers installed this week, and seem to be recovering well.
  • Funeral services for Alvera Rohman are scheduled for Monday, May 17, at Ortmann Funeral Home in Overland, with visitation on Sunday, May 16, from 2 to 7:00 p.m.
  • Betty Keely has been moved to St. John's Rehab on Highway 40.
  • Ruby Mahaffie is in St. Joseph's Hospital in St. Charles.
  • Marlene Summers has received good news from her doctors concerning her cancer. Praise God for answered prayer.

These are the days when many of our young people are graduating. Let's keep them in our prayers as they seek jobs in a tough economy.

Grace and peace to all!
