- Just as Jesus spent 40 days in the wilderness in preparation for his earthly ministry, so Christians throughout the ages have felt the call to spend 40 days in fasting and prayer in preparation for Easter and greater ministry here on earth.
- Just as Moses spent 40 days on Mt. Sinai when he received the law, so Christians have felt the call to spend 40 days each year seeking after God in a special way.
Grace, mercy and peace!

An Invitation to Honor Walt Caesar for Singers Past and Present
An Invitation to Honor Walt Caesar for Singers Past and Present
An Invitation from the Caesar Family
Dear St. Paul's Family,
On behalf of my Mother and Father I want to thank you personally for everything this congregation meant to them in this life and how comforting it is to know that they are together now in peace in the loving care of our Lord thanks to the faithfulness of this church.
Chuck, Cindy and I cannot express in words what St. Paul's means to us spiritually and from a human perspective what it means to know that we are never alone on this earth. That comes only by worshiping together in fellowship with you.
As you know Mom and Dad enjoyed many years praising god in the Music Ministry at St. Paul's and we plan to honor that legacy during Dad's funeral service on Monday. We invite everyone that would like to participate to join the choir in singing "In This Very Room" during the funeral service on Monday.
Fern Black will be in the choir room at 10:00 AM Monday to rehearse. If you would like to participate but are not able to rehearse please still join them in the choir loft. If you know of anyone that doesn't currently attend St. Paul's or participate actively in the Music Ministry please let them know about this and that they are most welcome.
In Christ's love and with gratitude,
Craig and the Caesar Family

This Sunday at St. Paul's (February 3, 2013)
This Sunday at St. Paul's (February 3, 2013)
Pastor Friz to finish off "Imagine" sermon series this Sunday.
Dear St. Paul's Congregation,
ABF Topic: Homosexuality. This coming Sunday, Feb. 3, Mr. Kyle Keating, a teaching assistant at Covenant Seminary, will speak to our Sanctity of Life Adult Bible Fellowship on the subject of homosexuality and same-sex attraction. Kyle will share his personal story and the way his identity in Christ Jesus has shaped his response to this issue. Kyle will also have helpful information not only for those who struggle with same-sex attraction, but also for parents who may be wondering how to respond to events in their own family. This is a topic that has touched everyone at St. Paul's in one way or another, and my hope would be that the entire congregation would come to hear what Kyle has to say.
"Imagine" Series Closer. Our final sermon in the Imagine What God Can Do series is on the topic of Financial Freedom. If you check the top New Year's resolutions for Americans in 2013, "saving more money" or "getting out of debt" are always toward the top of the list. Americans long for financial security, but what God offers is even better: Financial Freedom. In preparation for Sunday, why not do a study of 1 Timothy 6:3-10? Also, if you are very ambitions, do a word study on "contentment" or perhaps "satisfied" in the Lord.
Faith Commitment Cards. Please bring your commitment cards this Sunday if you were "iced out" last Sunday. God wants us to plan our giving to him, just as we might plan to budget for utilities, mortgages, etc. If you did not bring your cards last Sunday, we will be happy to receive them this Sunday. Just put them in the offering plate when it comes your way.
Coming Up. On Sunday, February 10, there are two important events coming our way:

Cal will speak of his own pilgrimage along the Camino de Santiago in Spain, and use Hebrews 12:1-3 as his text for the day. Cal will also speak in the Sanctity of Life ABF to show pictures of his "Camino" pilgrimage.
- Sausage Supper takes place on Sunday, February 10. Frank and Lynn need people to sign up for shifts and for desserts, so please be helpful in any way you are able
